Metrix Score™
Contractor Business Metrics
Each page below explains what a metric is, how to calculate it from data you already have, includes a free calculator, and tells you what it can and can't tell you about your business.
Close Rate
Close rate is the percentage of qualified opportunities that turn into signed, paid work. It's a signal about your sales conversation, pricing, and follow-up — not a verdict on your whole business.
Callback Cost
Callback cost is the real dollar cost of sending someone back out to fix something related to a job you already completed — labor, travel, materials, and the productive time that visit displaced. It's a clearer signal than a raw callback percentage because it puts a number on the margin damage.
Gross Margin per Job
Gross margin per job is what's left after direct job costs — labor, materials, subcontractors, permits — are subtracted from what the customer paid. A business can post record revenue and still lose money on every job if this number isn't tracked.
More metrics — lead response time and technician utilization — are in development and will be published once the guidance is verified rather than rushed out.
