Metrix Score™ is a SubZeroMetrix property, written and reviewed by Richard Fritzke. SubZeroMetrix owns and publishes several distinct contractor-facing resources, each with a different purpose and audience.

The Modern Trades Mentor is a separate, affiliated local service provider — a contractor growth and business-systems practice run by the same person who writes this content. Where a page here recommends TMT, that's a disclosed affiliation, not an independent third-party endorsement. TMT services are optional; nothing on this site requires purchasing them.

Modern Trades CRM, referenced on some metric pages, is a separate affiliated software product available nationally — it does not require purchasing TMT consulting or implementation to use.

Why this exists

Metrix Score™ started as a paid application. It's now a free measurement library instead — the goal is to help contractor and field-service business owners calculate and understand the operational numbers behind their business, using data they already have. Where a number points to a specific kind of problem, the pages here say so and explain which part of a business that problem usually lives in. Implementing a fix is a separate, disclosed service through The Modern Trades Mentor — this site doesn't sell that directly.

Methodology

Every formula on this site is a standard, calculable definition — not a proprietary or opaque scoring system. Worked examples use realistic but fictional numbers, clearly labeled as examples. Where an industry benchmark isn't cited on a page, it's because we don't currently have a source we're confident is accurate and methodologically transparent — not because we forgot to include one. Pages are reviewed and dated; check the "last reviewed" line at the top of each metric page.

What this site doesn't do

  • It doesn't generate a proprietary score or grade for your business.
  • It doesn't offer human coaching or consulting directly — that's The Modern Trades Mentor's work, disclosed and linked, not bundled in here.
  • It doesn't collect or store the numbers you type into a calculator — those run entirely in your browser.
  • It doesn't present legal, tax, licensing, accounting, insurance, or compliance information as professional advice.
